As a local public brand, Baojing Golden Tea is a well-known distinctive agricultural product of Baojing County and one of the top ten agricultural regional public brands in Hunan Province. It has won numerous honors such as “Golden Sprout Award” for the most competitive potential brand of Chinese tea.
“Today, our Baojing golden tea has added a new honor, indicating that our tea quality has been recognized by more people and the brand awareness of tea is constantly improving. We will work to enter the top 50 tea enterprises,” said Long Wenfu, an entrepreneur.
To protect this public brand and advantageous germplasm resources, Baojing County has fully launched the construction of the Baojing Golden Tea Germplasm Gene Bank, and listed 2,057 ancient tea trees located in 7 ancient tea gardens in Huangjin Village, Lyudongshan Town as cultural relics for their protection.
It has issued the first regulation on protecting ancient tea trees in Hunan Province.
At the same time, the Baojing Golden Tea Industry Research Institute of Hunan Academy of Agricultural Sciences was established, focusing on the protection and development of ancient tea germplasm resources of Baojing Golden Tea.
The tea technology innovation system was gradually improved, and the collection and analysis of plastid (chloroplast) gene/DNA samples of Baojing Golden Tea were completed. Excellent individual plant resources were collected, and the “Technical Processing Regulations for Baojing Golden Black Tea” were formulated to maintain tea quality.
